A. Cordici Museum

The museum

The Antonino Cordici Municipal Museum was founded in 1876 to preserve works of art, inscriptions, coins, pottery, marble and archaeological finds connected with Erice. Since 2011 it has occupied the former Franciscan Third Order convent.

Its collections cover archaeology, decorative arts, weapons, paintings, sculpture and contemporary art, with an additional space for temporary exhibitions.

Highlights

Among the most notable objects are the marble head traditionally identified with Venus, a Neolithic terracotta pintadera, majolica panels, sacred artworks, alabaster nativity scenes and the Annunciation by Antonello Gagini, dated 1525.
