Church of San Giuliano

The Church of San Giuliano stands at one of the highest points in the historic centre. Tradition attributes its foundation in 1076 to Count Roger the Norman, in gratitude to Saint Julian after the siege of the mountain.

Enlarged several times, the church reached its present form between 1612 and 1615. Its eighteenth-century bell tower and distinctive pagoda-shaped spire are among the most recognisable features of the Erice skyline.

The bright three-aisled interior and the chapel of the Immaculate Conception preserve centuries of religious devotion and local tradition.
